What’s the conversion rate of solar panels?

We use mono-crystalline silicon as the prime material for our solar panels and the conversion rate of our solar panels is about 23%.

How long do solar panels last?

The lifespan of solar panels is determined by the materials used in the solar cells, tempered glass, EVA, TPT,  proper care, and other components. Solar panels manufactured with higher-quality materials typically have a lifespan of up to 25 years. However, environmental factors can affect the materials of solar panels, causing them to age over time.

In general, solar panels experience a gradual degradation in power output as they age. After approximately 20 years of use, the power output may decrease by around 30%, and after 25 years, it may decrease by approximately 70%.

It's important to note that these figures are approximate and can vary depending on the specific manufacturer, quality of materials, and environmental conditions. Regular maintenance and proper care can help extend the lifespan and maintain the performance of solar panels.

What each end of the cord on the back of the portable solar panelis for?
  • The red-black cord is used to connect to the Anderson port in the front of our T1200, T2200, and T3000 for solar charging.
  • The DC cord is used for some devices that only support DC input for solar charging, such as our T306.
  • The other two is called the MC4 connectors.They have 2 functions:
  1. Some solar panels can only support MC4 connectors. In this case, you will need to connect MC4 connectors to the solar panel for solar charging.
  2. If you want to connect 2 solar panel together for a larger solar input, you need to connect them with the MC4 connectors.

Can I use only solar panels without a battery?

Yes, it is possible to use solar panels without a battery. The electricity generated by solar panels can be used directly to power devices or appliances in real-time without the need for energy storage.

However, it is important to note that solar panels are devices that convert sunlight into electricity but do not have the capability to store electricity. Solar panels generate higher voltage when exposed to strong sunlight and lower voltage when exposed to weak sunlight. In other words, the output voltage is unstable and cannot reliably power electrical devices.

If you don't have a battery or energy storage system, you won't be able to draw power from the solar panels when there is no sunlight, such as during the night or on cloudy days. The availability of electricity will depend on the presence of sunlight. If you need to power devices during periods without sunlight, you might consider using a battery storage system to store excess solar energy for future use.

Can solar panel charge smartphones or tablets?  

Yes, our solar panel has 1* USB-C output port and 2* USB-A output port.

Can I use the POWEREPUBLIC solar panel to charge the third party power station, such as PV200?

1. The third party power station should support solar charging.

2. The OCV of the PV200 is about 25V.

What will a 200 watt solar panel run?

A 200-watt solar panel has a moderate power capacity and can power a variety of devices and appliances such as small electronics, RV or camping appliances off-grid cabins or tiny houses, etc.

Can a portable solar panel power an AC unit?

Portable solar panels can't directly power AC unit. If AC power is required, a device for converting DC to AC is needed. A DC to AC inverter can be used to convert the DC power generated by the solar panels into AC power for supplying electricity.

Do you need an inverter for portable solar panels?

It depends on the type of devices you want to power with portable solar panels. If your devices run on DC, such as USB-powered devices or DC appliances, you may not need an inverter. Portable solar panels can directly charge or power these devices using their DC output.

However, if your devices require alternating current (AC), such as household appliances or electronics that plug into a standard wall outlet, then you will need an inverter.

Therefore, the need for an inverter depends on the specific power requirements and compatibility of the devices you intend to use. 

Additionally, inverters may have functions such as grid-tie capability, energy storage, and protection features. For instance, when solar panels produce an excess amount of electricity, the inverter can store the surplus energy in batteries for later use, such as during nighttime.

Is POWEREPUBLIC solar panel waterproof?

Our solar panels are IP54. Please do not expose it to constant rain or snow.

How to clean the surface of a solar panel?

Please use a soft cloth to remove the dust and dirt on the surface. Use a damp cloth to wipe the surface of the solar module to remove any remaining dust or dirt. Any guano or other adhesive should be removed as soon as possible from the solar surface to avoid a reduction in performance.
